Chester Lin, Successful, Former NatSteel CEO, Elected to Advise
FREMONT, Calif. (November 16, 2004) – Flash Electronics today announced Chester Lin, chairman of ECS Holdings, a mainboard-listed information technology products distributor, has joined the Company’s Board of Directors. He also serves as the advisor of InfoWave, a leader in the development and supply of mobile and wireless information devices.
“Chester Lin’s expertise in areas of contract manufacturing, supply chain management, marketing and international business will be a tremendous resource to the board of directors and Flash Electronics as we move forward with worldwide expansion,” says Matthew Liu, chairman, Flash Electronics. “Lin’s background in NatSteel Electronics and Solectron are accomplishments for Lin that Flash Electronics hopes to also benefit from learning. We are in a position to marry our triumphs into a recipe for exemplary service.”
Lin was formerly chief executive officer at electronics contract manufacturer, NatSteel Electronics. He started the Singaporean company in 1994, built plants worldwide, and turned what started as a division of NatSteel, into a public global player with more than $2 billion in sales providing global contract manufacturing services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The company also manufactured printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies and provided box-building capabilities and pre- and post-manufacturing services such as design, prototyping, testing and logistics.
NatSteel Electronics was the 6th largest contract manufacturing company in the world and was acquired by Solectron in late 2000. Chester Lin served as executive vice president and president of Solectron Asia/Pacific.
Chester Lin was awarded the 1999 Stars of Asia Award by Business Week magazine. Lin’s career has progressed from General Instruments of Taiwan to products manager for General Electric and later as founder of the Singapore-based subsidiary for the U.S., SCI Systems, Inc, the company that “practically invented contract manufacturing” according to Business Week magazine (Nov. 2000).
