Flash Electronics Decreases Customers’ Prototype and Volume Production Costs

New NPI Services Unit Resolves Non-Core Costs Associated with Early Production

FREMONT, Calif. (September 16, 2003) - Flash Electronics launched a New Product Introduction (NPI) Services unit this September 2003. The unit offers a seamless solution to move new products from concept into volume production services for electronic manufacturing customers primarily in the U.S. Flash Electronics expedites customers’ time to market by offering turnkey manufacturing services from design review through full volume production. NPI Services is available immediately to new and current customers.

“Flash Electronics objective is to determine the fastest way to get our customers’ products to market. We are answering our customers’ needs by extending our service offering with NPI Services to include easy offshore manufacturing transfer and small volume production. As a single vendor offering a comprehensive solution to electronic manufacturing, we are simplifying our customers’ production process,” says Mark Ho, Managing Director for NPI Services.

NPI Services helps U.S. customers move production to Flash Electronics’ offshore facilities without the added expense of production transfer. By working with customers’ design and process engineers and procurement teams in the U.S. at Flash Electronics’ domestic facilities, materials, logistics and supply chains can be determined before the production transfers to Flash Electronics’ offshore facilities. The additional costs of travel, labor and time are eliminated and customers can do a pilot production run in the U.S. to ensure quality and delivery. The seamless integration of Flash Electronics’ on- and offshore facilities simplify the need for multiple vendors and resources and allows customers to focus on their core strengths and move product to market faster at a lower cost.

Also offering small volume and prototype production, Flash Electronics extends value to its customers with turnkey manufacturing solutions. From early in critical design review stages, Flash Electronics engineers work with customers concurrently to identify opportunities to decrease production costs in areas such as packaging, chassis, battery packs and other subsystems. Such a relationship allows customers to focus on their strengths in design and work with resources throughout Flash Electronics for the duration of conception through production.

The NPI Services unit is located in Building 3 of Flash Electronics’ U.S. facilities located in Fremont, California.
