Flash Electronics China Facilities Qualify for ISO 9002 Certification

FREMONT, Calif. (June 13, 2003) – Flash Electronics, a leading global contract electronics manufacturing (CEM) company, today announced that its Suzhou, China facility was recommended for ISO 9002 certification. Expanding its global manufacturing strategy, Flash Electronics opened the Suzhou plant in August 2002. The recommendation for ISO 9002 certification is significant in that it came just 3 months after the opening of the 340,000 square foot facility. The unprecedented speed in achieving this quality standard is due to Flash Electronics’ commitment to quality control and a business model that hinges on duplicating the buildings, lines and processes of its U.S. facilities. It is a testimony to the strength of this copy-exact approach that the Suzhou facility was able to ramp to full production so quickly. In addition to medium and high volume PCB assembly, the Suzhou site offers custom and standard box builds, testing and order fulfillment. The ISO 9002 certification was awarded in June 2003.

About ISO 9002 Certification
The ISO 9002 family of standards represents an international consensus on good management practices with the aim of ensuring that the organization can consistently deliver the products or services that meet the client’s quality requirements. The standards give organizations guidelines on what constitutes an effective quality management system, and models against which this system can be audited to give the organization and its clients assurance that it is operating effectively. Third party accredited certification bodies only provide ISO certifications.
