Flash Electronics’ Second China Facility in Full Production

FREMONT, Calif. (May 15, 2003) – Flash Electronics, a leading global contract electronics manufacturing (CEM) company, today announced the opening of its fifth manufacturing plant, the second of two production sites in China. The new 340,000 square foot facility located in Suzhou, opened in full production in third quarter of 2002, just two years after the Shanghai facility began operations. The new, state-of-the-art Suzhou facility meets the escalating electronic manufacturing demands of China with copy exact processes and total manufacturing solutions from design review through preproduction, to full volume production, testing and order fulfillment. Marking a significant move in strategy, the Suzhou facility advances Flash Electronics’ mission to provide OEM partners turnkey solutions and cost-efficient manufacturing alternatives. OEMs now have greater flexibility in decreasing costs for manufacturing product lines, shortening production cycles and managing inventories.

We have pre-existing supply chain relationships in China, so we’re poised for fast, efficient scalability as demand from China increases,” stated Chin Fan, president and chief executive officer of Flash Electronics. “Customers are not sacrificing top tier quality and service as an option for cost containment. We recognize the demands of the OEM in advanced markets.”

Flash Electronics utilizes a strategy of replicating the existing manufacturing sites and processes to ensure rapid ramp to capacity and quality assurance. This also supports the company’s “site balancing” practice, allowing capacity to be shared throughout its operations. Because it is able to handle large volume capacities, Flash delivers to its OEM customers far more complete and cost-effective electronic manufacturing solutions than most of its competitors. Product lines can be manufactured for OEMs versus product components. This tightens time to market and allows for quick turns on short product life cycles. All Flash Electronic facilities are ISO-9002, BABT and TUV compliant. A TL9000 recommendation has been recently awarded to the company.
