TL 9000 Certification Recommended for Flash Electronics U.S. Facilities

Fremont, Calif. (May 12, 2003) – All U.S. facilities of Flash Electronics, a leading global contract electronics manufacturing (CEM) company, have been recommended for TL 9000 certification by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent quality certification body. UL’s assessment of the Flash USA quality system confirms the company’s conformance to the TL 9000 standards specific to the production, delivery, installation and maintenance of components and services for telecommunications products. The criteria include cost-based metrics that measure reliability and quality performance of the products and services. The rigorous TL 9000 standards represent a consensus of good management practices with the aim of ensuring that Flash USA can consistently deliver the products and services that meet the telecommunication customers’ essential quality requirements.

Under the direction of Quality Assurance Manager, Chuck Word, Flash USA built upon the existing ISO 9002 certified quality system to meet the more stringent demands of the telecommunications standards. The workforce engaged in extensive training and every aspect of Flash USA’s operation was evaluated.

“Flash USA engaged UL to validate our commitment as a supplier to the telecommunications industry. We are unaware of any other contract manufacturer that has achieved this higher standard of quality,” said Mr. Word. “TL 9000 certification is part of our continuous improvement program. We intend to deliver products and services that exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Flash USA expects to receive TL 9000 certification by the end of the second quarter, 2003.
